New Investigator
Recipients of the SRF New investigator award are selected
from a short-list of eligible candidates on the basis
of their abstract submission to the annual conference,
their curriculum vitae and letters of support from senior
colleagues. Eligible candidates will be SRF members
or those whose applications are under consideration
and will have completed ten years (or less) of post-doctoral
research. SRF are currently interested in nominations
for 2010.
The recipient of this award is expected to present
their paper in the SRF/SSR New Investigator session
at the SRF annual conference and in the SRF/SSR Transatlantic
Lecture at the SSR annual conference in the same year.
In the first instance, nominations for the above awards
should be submitted to the SRF programme Secretary via
the SRF Business Office, UniversalProcon Ltd., Tattersall
House, East Parade, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG1
5LT, UK or emailed to SRFSecretariat@universalprocon.com
Student
The society also offers an award for its postgraduate
student members (SRF student prize). To be considered
for the award, students must submit an abstract to be
presented at the annual conference. Submitted abstracts
are reviewed by an independent panel and a maximum of
six abstracts are then short listed for the prize. The
short listed students present their work in an oral
session during the conference (SRF student prize session).
The prize is awarded based on a combination of criteria
which include content, presentation, delivery and discussion
of the work. The award value of this prize is £250.
Students who qualify for this prize should tick the
relevant box when submitting their abstract via the
online Abstract
Submission Form.
Closing date for abstracts
is Wednesday 1st April 2009.
Remember, all SRF student members who are presenting
abstracts are entitled to apply for a bursary of up
to £350 to cover the cost of attending the Oxford
meeting.
Postdoctoral Scientist
The “Postdoctoral scientist prize” is
aimed for postdoctoral scientists who are within four
years of having obtained their PhD. To be considered
for the award, postdoctoral scientists must submit an
abstract to be presented at our annual conference. Submitted
abstracts are reviewed by an independent panel and a
maximum of three abstracts are then short listed for
the prize. The short listed scientists present their
work in an oral session during the conference (Postdoctoral
scientist prize session). Each presentation is given
a total of 20 minutes during the session (15 minutes
for presentation of the research and 5 minutes for discussion).
The prize is awarded based on a combination of criteria
which include content, presentation, delivery and discussion
of the work. The award value of this prize is £300.

Submission Form.

Poster
All posters will be considered for the Poster prize.
The judging will be based on the posters not the submitted
abstracts. The award value of this prize is £100.
